Recently a group of composers from the Nebraska Composers Alliance created a new set of etudes for the all-state instrumental auditions of the Nebraska Music Educators Association.
Tony Falcone, Nolan Schmit and Tyler White completed etudes for strings, winds and percussion that will be used for the first time this fall as young people from all over the state of Nebraska audition for the NMEA all-state band and orchestra.

Join the Nebraska Brass for “American Dances,” the finalé of its 2007-2008
season, “American Premieres.” At this final concert, the Nebraska Brass will
feature the world premiere of Lincoln composer, Nolan E. Schmit’s new work
for brass quintet, “PRISM: The Dance of Light.” This piece is dedicated to
the memory of late UNL Professor Emeritus Robert M. Beadell, Nolan
Schmit’s first composition professor during his undergraduate career at the
University of Nebraska.
